October is Breast Cancer awareness month and as such, flight attendants are permitted to order and wear pink accessories in support. I had my heart set on a dark pink pocket square for my vest, but OF COURSE they were only available in light pink. There were two things I had to consider:
1. Technically we are only supposed to wear accessories issued by the company. (What they don’t know won’t hurt them, right?)
2. Was I even going to get the chance to wear it? Until they finally called me out to work a trip October 17th, I was convinced that I wasn’t going to get the opportunity to flaunt ANY pink gear in the friendly skies the entire month *sad face*
My roommate had previously ordered the light pink pocket square for herself but later wanted me to have it since she wasn’t going to sport her uniform vest. Little did she know that I had already bought dark pink thread and fabric. I created a rolled hem and used a zig-zag stitch to finish the edges with my Mini Janome sewing machine. I just used her pocket square as a model to make my own.
Me standing in the hotel mirror as I just arrived in Regina, Canada. Matching pink earrings from F21 and my finished pocket square styled to folded perfection. Just the right pop of flair + color to set off an everyday uniform.
Opinion: More ladies should rock the pocket square in blazers – I got so many compliments! I stole this accordion-style fold from the 5 Techniques on How to Fold a Pocket Square for your Tuxedo video. Yet another reminder that you can learn anything from YouTube.
